Merry Christmas, my friends! I hope you are all happy, healthy, and feeling the warm embrace of unconditional love.
This time of year is always so hectic and stressful. By the time I wrap the last gift, I question my shopping habits. It's exhausting and expensive, but the moment I see one of my loved ones open a present, it all becomes worth it.
My granddaughter is in first grade and has fallen in love with reading. A couple months ago, she asked me a question that melted my heart. "Nana, will you please buy me some books for Christmas?"
Baby girl certainly asked the right person. I had a ball at various book signing events and my favorite bookstore where I enjoyed hometown customer service as only Always Buying Books of Joplin, Missouri can provide. I spent a small fortune on reading material, but I regret nothing.
My family celebrated Christmas last weekend, and all three grandkids were showered with fun gifts. I made sure all three had several new books to read along with their shiny new toys. Of course, the greatest gift I received was those precious babies hugging me tight and telling me they loved me when they thanked me for their presents.
Several other people bought my sweet young granddaughter books, as well. My mom bought her a Wonder Woman backpack, and it was packed as full of books as she could stuff it when I visited her today. She showed me each book and told me how close she was to her next reading level.
I have always loved Christmas. However, it seems to be merrier now that I am a nana. Doting on my grandchildren and watching their joy fills my heart fuller than I ever dreamed possible.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas filled with love, laughter, and joy!
