Happy Independence Day, USA!

Happy Independence Day! I hope you all have a fun and safe 4th of July!

Thank you to our military personnel and veterans who make our continued freedom possible!

At this point in time, I’m uncertain of my plans for the holiday. My husband gets off work at 7:00 p.m. if all goes well, and I don’t know if he’ll be in the mood for fireworks or not. I thought I might check with my mom and my sister to see if they want to get together during the day, regardless of what my hubby decides.

Sometimes I just need to be with my family. My mom, sister, and brother-in-law understand me on a level that not many others can. I spent a few hours with them last Sunday, and it was so relaxing to sprawl out on the couch and talk about whatever was on our minds.

We discussed the fact that I finally finished planting my garden and how late I am with it. Discussion of my nephew's new adventure far from the safety of home naturally arose. To my delight, I was able to speak to him on the phone that day. We also talked about our jobs, the economy, and how our jobs don't pay for as much as they once did.

Days like that bring me peace. Family time when there's no agenda, and lunch is decided by what's in the refrigerator, not the nearest restaurant. When, in true southern fashion, saying goodbye takes an hour after I get to my car, I know I'm with my kinfolk.

I hope you all enjoy a wonderful holiday celebrating our freedom with the ones you love most.
