I've been released from my crutches!
It took a while, but I finally had an appointment with an orthopedic office today. The office was super busy, and I waited two hours past my appointment time, but I was determined to be seen. I absolutely was not willing to continue the way I was.
I saw an orthopedic doctor's physician assistant. He pushed, pulled, and poked around on my leg. After an in-depth discussion about what happened and how it felt, he said he had a pretty good idea on the issue. He said I could have a torn meniscus, torn cartilage, or had a cyst rupture.
He can't do an MRI until I've had four to six weeks of physical therapy due to insurance requirements. I guess our insurance companies truly do dictate our health care. While it irks me horribly, I need medical attention and will do what I must to obtain it.
They want me to go to physical therapy three times a week. I'm off the crutches, but I need to continue my muscle relaxer, elevation, and icing. I have a follow up appointment September 4th, but he said if there are no problems, I can cancel the appointment.
During the past two weeks, I've been showered with kindness, love, and assistance from my family and friends. I cannot express enough my gratitude to everyone who has been there for me. I'm not out of the woods yet, but I can at least carry my own coffee now.
I wish you all good health and abundant happiness.
